Battling the VA for Veteran jet fuel and other toxic exposure disability benefits!
Battling the VA for Veteran jet fuel and other toxic exposure disability benefits!
March 20, 2014 - VA has hearing problems -
Exposure to jet fuel, not just noise, contributes to hearing problems., according to the VA Research Currents below.
The VA's own health care professionals said it loud and clear - NEARLY TEN YEARS AGO.
But the VA chooses not to listen.
Dr. O'neil Guthrie, a research scientist and clinical audiologist with the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System in California, has done a series of studies about the impact of jet fuel exposure on military personnel.
VA and other health professionals acknowledge on VA web sites and in study after study, the negative impact on the health and hearing of veterans exposed to jet fuel. Congress even told the VA to wake up and figure it out in the PACT Act. Nevertheless, the VA continues to turn a deaf ear to veterans with tinnitus and hearing loss.
Service connection is frequently denied for many chronic conditions related to Jet Fuel Exposure Syndrome. Not in the right place, at the right time. Apparently jet fuel in places other than Iraq does not have the same impact. VA does not like the term Jet Fuel Exposure Syndrome, so everyone is encouraged to use it.
For Gulf War Veterans, VA applies the mouthful, "Medically Unexplained Chronic Multisymptom Illnesses (MUCMI)" to describe a cluster of medically unexplained chronic symptoms that can include fatigue, headaches, joint pain, indigestion, insomnia, dizziness, respiratory disorders, and memory problems. The term Gulf War Illness provides the explanation, and VA doesn't like that term either.
What does a burn pit being prepared to be torched, a burning trash pile, and a burning oil well have in common with a swabbie working on a Navy carrier flight deck or an airman on an Air Force flight line?
Petroleum - lots and lots of petroleum.
